‘People young and old can get meningitis. The disease is rare but can cause death and disability in a matter of hours. Of those who are infected, approximately 10% will die and a further 20% or more will suffer a long-term disability.’

Today is World Meningitis Day. To raise awareness of the disease and how to prevent it, the Confederation of Meningitis Organisations (CoMO) has produced a new video to highlight the personal experiences of six people affected by meningitis.

Meningitis is a global issue that can affect anyone, anywhere and at any time and yet the most serious forms can be prevented. Learn the signs and symptoms, find a member organisation near you and join the global fight against meningitis at www.comomeningitis.org.
